Admissions · Mayfair British International School

At Mayfair, our admissions process is designed to help families understand whether our school is the right fit for their child academically, socially and personally. We welcome children from ages 3 to 18 and guide each family carefully through the process, from the first enquiry to the first day of school.

How to join Mayfair School

1. Enquiry

Complete the enquiry form or contact our Admissions team with your child’s age, current school year, previous school experience and preferred start date.

2. Book a visit or video call

We invite families to visit the school or arrange a video call. This gives you the opportunity to meet our team, ask questions and understand whether Mayfair is the right fit for your child.

3. Application and documentation

If you wish to continue, we will ask you to complete the application form and provide the relevant documents, such as recent school reports, identification documents and any information that helps us understand your child’s learning needs.

4. Assessment for Stage 6 and above

For applications from Stage 6 upwards, students may be asked to complete an assessment. This helps us understand their academic level and ensure they can be placed in the most appropriate class with the right support.

5. Confirmation of enrolment and welcome to Mayfair

Once the application has been reviewed and a place has been confirmed, families receive the enrolment information and next steps. We then support your child’s transition so they feel welcomed and ready to begin their journey at Mayfair.

A personal admissions process

Choosing the right school

Choosing a school is an important decision, and our admissions process is designed to help families determine whether Mayfair is the right fit for them. We welcome students from ages 3 to 18 and offer a British international education through the Cambridge Pathway. From your first enquiry to your child’s first day, our team will guide you clearly through each stage of the process.

Why choose Mayfair school for your child?

Mayfair is a school for families who value a personal, human and purposeful education. We do not try to follow every educational trend, nor do we believe that impressive facilities alone define a good school. Instead, we focus on what we believe matters most: strong relationships, thoughtful teaching, personal development, staff training and a deep respect for knowledge. As a family-run school, we continue to improve our environment year after year, while preserving the warmth, care and sense of community that make Mayfair a place where children can feel known, supported and encouraged to grow.

Finding the Right Place for Your Child

Mayfair welcomes learners from ages 3 to 18, subject to availability and suitability for the year group. We consider each child individually, taking into account their age, previous curriculum, level of English, academic background and personal development. We aim to ensure that every child joins a class where they feel supported, appropriately challenged and able to thrive.

Frequent ask questions - FAQs

Can we visit the school before applying?

Yes. We encourage families to book a visit or video call so they can meet us, see the school and ask questions before making a decision.

Do students need to complete an assessment?

For applications from Stage 6 upwards, students may be asked to complete an assessment so we can understand their academic level and ensure appropriate placement.

Can my child join during the academic year?

In some year groups, mid-year entry may be possible depending on availability and the stage of the academic programme. For students applying to Stage 10 and above, entry is required at the commencement of the academic year.

How do you decide the right year group?

We consider the child’s age, previous school experience, curriculum background, academic development and level of English before confirming the most appropriate placement.

Do you accept pupils who are still developing their English?

Many of our students come from international and multilingual backgrounds. During admissions, we consider each child’s level of English and how we can support access to the curriculum.

How quickly should we apply?

We recommend contacting us as early as possible, especially for year groups where places may already be limited.
